Rather than writing boring book reports, creating book trailers is a great alternative to gauge comprehension, foster a love of reading, AND exhibit creativity.

The article at the link above is WONDERFUL for showing kids the step-by-step directions to plan and create their book trailers, but I DO NOT recommend all the photo/music freeshare sites mentioned on their sites for their use independently (with parental supervision, they are great resources).
